The Story:This Kapton Tape is exactly what I needed for my print bed! I was using the manufacturer recommended glue sticks for the longest time to create a stickable surface for my printer but I hated it. It was messy and I had to babysit the first 3 to 5 layers every single to make sure everything was sticking properly. I've had to abort more prints than I've had successful starts! About 3 weeks ago I finally decided that this was NOT something I wanted to just "suck it up and deal with" and started looking around for solutions. I saw a lot of people reported using a layer of Painters Tape or Masking Tape so I gave that a try with great success! I still had to babysit the first layer or two and watch from afar if using rafting or supports as after about 3 or 4 prints the filament was likely to not grip anymore causing either a raft or support to lift and get dragged/knocked around. This was honestly the best I thought I would get so I decided to try to find single sheets that I could fit onto my print bed so I didn't have to keep making sheets out of thinner tape rolls. Enter: Kapton Tape. The long descriptive review:After carefully adhering the Kapton tape to my print bed and trying my best to get rid of air bubbles, I began printing. The difference was night and day! I had to basically re-learn my own printer because I was always in constant damage control trying to make sure my print didn't get screwed up from not properly sticking. I used to have to raft EVERYTHING to minimize risk of lifting on the print. With Kapton Tape I just print exactly what I need and nothing more unless, of course, I need supports for overhanging print sections. This actually saves an appreciable amount of filament! I have about 7 prints on the first sheet of Kapton Tape already and there's no sign of needing to replace it yet. I have built up so much confidence in this material that I no longer hit the 'Print' button and immediately glue my face to the front door of my printer! I hit print and walk away knowing my print is properly sticking to the print bed! I'll still glance at it a few times in the beginning just to be sure of course as it's definitely going to need replacing eventually but so far so good! Once the print is complete it's also much easier to remove the object from the print bed than any other medium I've used so far! It nicely just pops right off and has an extremely smooth finish on the bottom. The short and sweet review:The tape stuck to the print bed wonderfully. I had to try and squeeze out a lot of air bubbles as my printer has an enclosed print area making it tough to really maneuver and get it on there perfectly but it works awesomely! My prints stick to the bed with more success than any other medium I have used so far including glue sticks and painters tape. No more babysitting the first several layers and no more rafting and/or brimming every single print(Saves filament)! Once the print is done and has been given the proper cooling time, my print just pops right off the bed! I haven't had to use my fancy metal spatula yet!Summation:This Kapton Tape is an incredible asset to my printing. I save filament due to not having to raft and brim everything and I don't have to abort every single print 2 to 11 times(Actual metrics) before I get a good start. I will absolutely be buying more of this when I start getting low on them!
