This is definitely better than the mechanical switch that I was previously using. I have one of the first color deskjets ever made (HP 550c). It's old but still working perfectly. The only problem I have with this switch is that once a document is printed, the led port indicators start and continue to sequence from port to port and will not stop until another document is sent from one of the 4 attached computers. I had to hide the unit behind the desk to keep from getting a headache.
