UPDATE - 9/8/14: After working with this printer, I owe Epson an apology. It prints single checks just fine. My error was inserting them horizontally through the back feed. It wants them to go in vertically, on edge. When inserted that way, the printer treats the single check like an envelope and prints just fine. There is some tweaking to do in QuickBooks to get the alignment right as all printers do this slightly differently, but once that's done it's a breeze. So I officially upgrade my review to five stars.PREVIOUS REVIEW: This is an excellent printer..... for most things. Here's where it lost a star. I use QuickBooks. Most of the time I pay bills online. Every now and then I have to print a check. So far I have not been able to get this bugger to print one check. Two or three on a page works great. One - it always goes into "Paper Jam" and stops dead. When I open the back, the check is just sitting there, not jammed, not stuck, just laying on the little platform on top of the feed rollers. Tech support was abysmal. I got an agent with an accent who sounded like he was reciting the manual that I had read before I called tin, and did not solve the problem. What he did do was waste a half hour of my time. So the good news is it is very fast, very good quality, and we'll see about it's efficiency as I haven't had it long enough to tell. I really hope so because the ink cartridges are quite big and VERY expensive compared to the little standard ones from the regular Epson printers. So, bottom line, this is a very solid, great performing, work horse printer for small offices. Don't try to print just one check. If something isn't working right, hopefully you will get a different agent than I did when you call tech support. All in all though, I'm very happy with it.
