Heater did heat up to desired value but the lid is so heavy it causes the whole thign to fall backwards with nothing in it. So print some hing stoppers from thingiverse and this solves that problem.If you mount the dryer on your printer the hole where the lid closes is too sharp so print an angled insert so it exits at an angle.Works as advertised.I have a role of PETG filament that was all but unusable. It had constant nozzle clogs, poor adhesion between layers etc. I ran the spool through the dryer (twice) and my first print went off perfectly. I have dried a few other roles and have noticed improved performance. I normally store rolls in vacuum sealed bags, but that does not help with removing moisture that is absorbed by the role while printing. This seems to do a good job of the task it was designed for- removing moisture.The instructions that come with the dryer are useless and I have yet to be able to access the user manual using the link on the paperwork or by going directly through the web site. MY guess is this would not tell me anything anyway. But, I would like to know what the different abbreviations on the screen mean.I purchased a new BIQU B1 printer and Hatchbox black PLA. I left the reel on rollers (exposed to ambient conditions) for about a week as I was printing out a lot of parts. In the beginning, I had no problems and I was getting great prints. As the days went by, I started seeing some minor warping in the corners. I adjusted temperatures, but couldn't completely get rid of the problem. The warping continued to get worse. In addition, I lost the ability to control adhesion. Finally, I couldn't print anything. I decided to try drying out my PLA, but wasn't comfortable using my "oven" because I don't trust the temperature control. Thus I ordered the Sunlu Filament Dehydrator. It has several features I like. The built in rollers handle a 1Kg reel of filament great. You can continue dehydrating as you print by using the small holes in the cover. Sunlu includes teflon tubing to protect the cover plastic. The UI is limited, but easy to use. You can set a timer to run the unit for a number of hours. I had to dry my PLA for 12-18 hours the first time to eliminate the hygroscopic effects. Once I did this, I was back to where I began when I opened the PLA from its sealed bag. I also made some other adjustments. I have a space heater in the room where my printer is and I use it to help regulate the ambient temperature to help prevent warping (I also keep the door closed to avoid any air currents). I adjusted the temperature setting settings and airflow for the initial layers as well. All of these adjustments helped eliminate warping, and I'm also getting good adhesion again. I believe the Sunlu Filament Dehydrator was absolutely key in regaining control of my printing process.If you're like me, you might have some old filament that sat out too long in a room that's probably too humid. Well, fear not. They sell these dehydrator boxes. For just heating the filament with some silica gel packets and drying out the filament, this works well. In my experience, this works less well when trying to print with the filament in it. I haven't had any failures yet, but I have had numerous cases where the filament seemed much more kinked and bent than usual. Going forward, I plan to just use this for warming and drying filament that's been open before I print, rather than trying to print through this. (I've tried it with and without the little cardboard card they provide, no difference that I could tell.)I'm not unhappy with this -- I've been able to get great prints out of some filament that was sitting out for years with this. Definitely a useful little box, but I just won't print with the filament in it anymore.Honestly I'm not sure this really does anything for me. Cause I'll run prints without remembering to even turn it on, and everything's fine. Maybe it's cause I only print pla, bit but for me, it's kinda useless beyond being a nice holder for my filament with the feeder hole being at the perfect angle to go right into my extruderI’ve undertaken several upgrades to my Ender 3 Pro over the last couple of weeks and, if you’re reading this, you are probably thinking about doing the same, so you may want to look for each of the following reviews under my name, to get a fuller picture. This has simply transformed my printing. I only use PETG and I more or less gave up on FDM a year ago, in favour of resin, because it was a constant battle around settings, which I rarely won. First layers sticking was hit and miss, parts would be poorly fused, warping was common and there was stringing everywhere. This was true even after drying filament in the kitchen oven for several hours. With the Sunlu that seems to be a thing of the past. Using a glass bed and 3DLAC undoubtedly helps (I’ve done that for ages) but first layers are reliable and the amount of stringing is not even worth mentioning. I suspect I could probably get rid of it all together by playing with retraction settings. There isn’t much to say about the dryer itself, it’s just a heated box with a couple of rollers and 2 buttons. I don’t particularly like the way in which the buttons operate, having a separate on/off switch as well would be better, but it works and is relatively inexpensive so this is nit-picking. As well as drying older filament in this for a few hours before use, I also keep it heating the filament while printing, and it’s worth mentioning that the smaller size Bowden fitting will screw straight into the feeder hole in the Sunlu. I’ve done that and used a short length of Capricorn Bowden tube between the box and the filament feeder, to minimise exposure to moisture when not printing.Bottom line: of all upgrades, this one has made the most difference in terms of print success and quality. If you’re thinking about buying it, just do it.The box is supplied with a flimsy, non-UK plug which is illegal and downright annoying as it isn't cheap and I resent paying more money to be able to use it. The dryer seems to work okay so far but the build-quality is much lower in person than it appears in their photos and the screen feels and looks very cheap.I would have returned the item but it was a gift and so the window passed, alas.Good points: easy to use, reasonably priced, built in bearings work well.Things that could be improved: UI on controls. Max temp could be higher. Box doesn't fit some 1kg spools (cardboard).Dont buy, cheap plastic and fragile, for little bit more get esun, way more worth it.SUNLU dürfte den meisten als Hersteller von Filamenten bekannt sein, aber der chinesische Herrsteller stellt unter anderem auch Filamenttrockner her. Ich habe jetzt den S1 Filament Dryer seit ein paar Tagen im Einsatz und habe dabei einen ersten Eindruck gewonnen.Die Hauptaufgabe des Trockners besteht darin, Filament die über die Zeit aufgenommene Feuchtigkeit auszutreiben, scheint mit der SUNLU gut geeignet zu sein. Rolle rein, Gerät einschalten, Temperatur wählen, ein paar Stunden warten und anschließend Filament verstauen oder verdrucken. Die Box verfügt über zwei Löcher, die sich mit mitgelieferten Teflonröhrchen versehen lassen, um direkt aus dem Drucker heraus drucken zu können. Die Durchführung wirkt ein wenig improvisiert. Die Filamentrolle liegt aber immerhin auf zwei Kugelgelagerten Rollen. Die Heizung befindet sich in der unteren Hälfte.Der Trockner verfügt über ein nüchternes Design. Das Schanier des Deckels könnte nach meinem Geschmack etwas stabiler sein. Skeptisch war ich, ob eine direkte Versorgung meines Druckers (PRUSA MK3S+) mit Feeder am Extruder funktioniert oder zu viel Spannung auf das Filament gibt. Ein elfeinhalbstündiger Druckerauftrag mit PETG funktionierte fehlerfrei, wenn es aber auch ein paar merkwürdige Knackgeräusche gab, die aber vom Filament verursacht wurde, dass über die Lagen auf der Rolle sprang. Die Kugellager und die Telflondurchführung für das Filament scheint aber für ausreichende Leichtgängigkeit zu sorgen, dass sich direkt aus dem Trockner drucken lässt.Das Display verfügt über ebenso große wie am Anfang unverständliche Anzeigen. Über zwei Tasten wird das Gerät bedient. Mit dem ersten Tastendruck wird der Trockner eingeschaltet. Viel muss sowieso nicht eingeschaltet werden: Die Temperatur (in °C) und die Laufzeit (in Stunden bis maximal 24h). Das Gerät zeigt dabei PV (physical values = Umgebungstemperatur) und SV (setting values = Sollwert) an. Das Display ist grauweiß und beleuchtet. Lässt sich aber gut ablesen.Das Gerät geht in Ordnung und lässt sich empfehlen.
