home printing, faxing and scanningThis printer is doing well for us.purchase price was great, received item earlier than stated, everything present including ink cartridges, very simple photo-based setup instructions, cords. all of that was great, but the item itself is incredibly unresponsive to the touch, which is vital for setup and use. It was an extremely long drawn out and frustrating process just to get it functional, which fortunately hasn't interfered with print usage so far, but in the future may pose a problem to change settings or to use the fax/copy/scan functions. As this is primarily going to be used for simple printing jobs, and for the price the other features were more of a "sure, why not?" this will suffice for now. This printer only lasted 2 1/2 months. I placed a black toner in and only got a few copies. I thought the toner was the problem so I purchased another toner and installed it. It still didn't work. Then I received an error message about print head. I tried everything that the instructions said about cleaning the printer head still the black would not print. I gave up and purchased the HP office Jet 9020e. Hopefully I'll get one than 2 1/2 years out of it.I didn’t realize it was refurbished. It’s all scratched up I thought I was getting a $10 discount and didn’t realize it was refurbished. Not worth only getting $10 off of the new price.Pros:Easy to set up.Printer quality is good.Lots of way to print (USB, Email etc.)Cons:Cartridge is costly, but is drying out fast.Unable to connect from android phoneMostly used for greeting cards using Broderbund software & feeds 110 lb card stock just fine.I live in Berlin, Germany, and I bought it for my nephew in Long Beach, CA. Buying (renewed) through the Amazon Marketplace made the transaction easy.I looked around for an hour or so, and finally settled on this model, even though my nephew specifically said he didn't need the fax function. To make a long story short, my nephew said that if he hadn't been told, from the optics and the function, he wouldn't have known the machine wasn't new. There was one small issue, but the seller's tech support was helpful, even though they couldn't resolve it. It seems to have been related to the Instant Ink deal. When my nephew was looking through the various settings, etc., the Instant Ink window said he had printed 119 pictures per month and recommended that he sign up for the appropriate program. This obviously wasn't true.I called the seller's tech support and they confessed this had happened before and could be attributed to sloppy work by the technician who "renewed" the machine. They assured me, though, in had no influence whatsoever on whether my nephew decides to join Instant Ink or not. We'll see.Anyway, as I've written, my nephew is very happy so far. He's had it two months.
